Summer in Chicago: Top Spots to Visit

Chicago is a beautiful city in Illinois, USA and it’s one of the top cities in United States and in the world. When I visited during the famous St. Patrick’s day celebration where they color the entire lake Green. Weather was still very cold and that’s expected in March here where it always stay in 30s and 40s. I went with a good Jacket and a large mug of coffee to keep me warm.

Summer in Chicago is always very special as there are lot of activities including the famous lalapalooza music festival and other food festivals.

In Chicago, weather remains cold at least till Late April or May. Its easy to commute within the the city as their public transportation is great with choices of Buses and Trains. I took the train from BrynMawr station to Chicago downtown and it was a few minutes walk to reach the lake view.

There is an architecture boat tour on the lake and it’s a great experience to travel on the green water and everyone dressed in green color to celebrate St. Patrick’s day. This is one of the best way to view and enjoy Chicago’s architecture along with a boat ride. There will be a tour guide on the boat narrating the architectures and history of those buildings.

Magnificent Mile in Chicago

Chicago’s magnificent mile is a good area for shopping and site-seeing as they have excellent shopping and dining places on both sides of magnificent mile in the downtown area. Parking is very hard within the city and its expensive too. So it’s easy and convenient to use public transport. Chicago’s downtown area is much cleaner compared to other big cities and the City corporation is doing a great job. Even during heavy snows, the city is cleaned regularly and roads are maintained well.

Chicago’s Architecture

Chicago is known for it’s architecture and you will find amazing views in the city. There are a lot of high rise buildings in and around the city. There are lot of high rise apartments with great views. You can find most of the fortune companies having offices setup in and around Chicago. There are lot of great universities here: University of Chicago · Northwestern University · University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) · Illinois Institute of Technology.

Summer in Chicago is wonderful and you will find visitors from all over the world. This city has lot of attractions, architectures, lot of lake shore beaches and so much goes around during summer. Famous Musical fest Lallapalooza is hosted in Chicago. You can also find various food festivals happening in the city. Suburbs in Chicago also has a lot to offer and you can find Iscon temples, big grocery stores in the suburbs.

There are lot of lake shores within few miles from Downtown and its great to spend time outdoors in Summer. A lot of events and activities held at the lake shore beaches during Summer. Though summers are short here, it’s utilized to the most.
